EBPPP MAY FUND CASUAL EMPLOYEES!

Last week, Hopwood Integrated Training received notification that the Minister for Education,  Julia Gillard, has announced an important new program commitment from the Australian Government to boost productivity and skills of existing workers in small, medium and national enterprises.  This program will provide an additional round of Productivity Places Training for employers who have staff requiring upgrading of skills and qualifications - these qualifications range from Certificate 3 through to Diploma level training.

The funding will vary depending on the size of the business and will make a significant contribution toward the cost of upskilling the industry.  We have been advised today from the Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council, that the funding will be available for organisations who currently employ staff on Full-time; Part-time and Casual basis.  This will be fantastic news for some of the organisations within the Bus Industry who have in past programs been excluded due to employment conditions ie. Casual.

As there is a limit to the amount of funding and places available, it is imperative that organisations act swiftly to secure the opportunities available to them under this scheme.  The Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Council have today given a commitment to assist any interested organisations of our industry with their applications to access this funding.  Additionally Hopwood Integrated Training is committed to the Bus Industry and will also provide any information and support required in order for our clients and stakeholders to access this financial assistance for training of their staff.

The announcement identifies that the Transport & Logistics Industry Skills Councils, including IBSA, will work with businesses and national professional associations and industry organisations to recommend skilling and productivity proposals to the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) for shared industry-government funding.  If you would like to know more, please feel free to visit the Minister's media release - Government partners with industry to provide additional training places or contact Andrew Mitchell from Hopwood Integrated Training on 0451 515 553 or (07) 32080753 or email andrew.mitchell@hopwoodgroup.com.au
